Los Vivancos Hermanos Teatro Gran Via

Los Vivancos Hermanos es un espectáculo muy comercial que realza la virtuosidad de los 7 hermanos - cada cual mas guapo . Saben bailar flamenco-ballet, flamenco-hiphop, flamenco-acrobacia y flamenco-flamenco. Ademas de hacer todo esto, tocan la música para su propio espectáculo, cada uno con su especialidad musical . El zapateado de todos es excelente, pero los chicos que han estudiado ballet bailan mucho mejor. El trabajo de los otros no deja de ser el de aficionados . También los solos se me hicieron largos . Mención especial para la cantaora Angélica Leyva que tiene una voz maravillosa . Ella sí tiene presencia escénica cuando baila.
Como show comercial funciona, el público se puso en pie al final para aplaudir. Pero si quieren trabajar en teatros mas alternativos , yo que ellos cambiaba de coreógrafo/a. Quitaría el humo y las luces de discoteca que nos cegaban. ¿Acaso no son los focos para iluminar el escenario ?
Pero la próxima vez que mis amigas me preparen una despedida de soltera, por favor , yo quiero a los Vivancos Brothers bailando el número de los pantalones vaqueros-qué selección de chocolatinas!!!!!! (D.M.)

The Vivancos Hermanos is a flashy showpiece that highlights the virtuosity of the 7 brothers -each one more goodlooking than the next.They can dance flamenco-ballet, flamenco-hiphop, flamenco-acrobatics and flamenco-flamenco. Not only can they do all of this, they also provide the live backing, each one playing a different musical instrument. All of them had excellent footwork but the ballet trained dancers were by far the best. The others had weak upper bodies and their performances verged on the amateur. I also found the solos a bit too long. A special mention goes to singer Angélica Leyva -what a beautiful husky voice! Her dancing came from the soul.
As a commercial show it worked. It got a standing ovation from the audience . But, if they want to perform in more alternative venues I´d change the choreographer and get rid of the smoke and the disco lights. (I thought that the spotlights must focus on the dancers, not on the audience.)
But the next time my friends (girls) give me a hen- night, please, I want the Vivancos Brothers doing the blue- jeans number - what a selection of 6-packs!!!!!

Ingredientes para Montar un Baile Contemporáneo:

Pasos: correr en círculos por el escenario haciendo ruido, pasearse con energía, tirarse bruscamente al suelo y levantarse repetidamente.

Música: variada (de clásica a rock) intercalada con sonidos del mar, hojas en el viento o insectos, se habla mientras se baila, jadeos.

Vestuario: prendas deslucidas, ropa interior de lo más práctica, desvestirse en el escenario.

Decorado: sillas, tirar harina, arena o agua.

Método: mezclar los ingredientes pero está prohibido sonreír o mostrar cualquier muestra de alegría

El XXI Certamen reunió todos estos ingredientes, muy bien reunidos por cierto. En España tenemos bailarines excelentes, haciendo cosas muy originales, pero se toman demasiado en serio, incluidas las piezas en clave de humor. Como se trataba de una competición no tuve más remedio que poner notas, y a todas (menos a una) les dí de notable alto a sobresaliente -eran, a fin de cuentas, los 8 finalistas de un certamen prestigioso.

Pero le concedo la matricula de honor a Sharon Fridman por su obra "Carlos & me". Fridman no necesita ninguna receta. Él y Carlos Fernández simplemente bailaron, fue pura emoción, gozaron y yo con ellos. Las luces eran perfectas, el vestuario fue perfecto, la música fue preciosa y no hubo necesidad de mas. Se llevó la mayoría de los premios , que fueron variados y generosos (el Premio del Público entre otros ) y compartió el segundo premio del Jurado con Angel Martinez y Vito Giotta con "IN2" y Janet Novas con "Se va del aire"- muy merecidos ambos. Será que los caminos del jurado son misteriosos o que no soy una iniciada en el mundo de la danza contemporánea, pero el 1º premio fue justo para la pieza que menos me gusto o es que simplemente no entendí lo que estaban transmitiendo. La pareja de la Ciaº Pisando Ovos, pasaron casi todo el tiempo dando botes, eso sì, bien altos en el mismo sitio - prueba de su resistencia física..... (D.M.)

Recipe: How to mount a contemporary dance

Ingredients :

Steps-running around in circles making as much noise as possible /energetic walking /jerky movements/flinging yourself about on the floor/ you pick me up, I pick you up and we all fall down again and again

Music-varied from classical to rock ,interspersed with sounds of: the sea/wind in the trees/insects /heavy panting/monologues

Costumes-unattractive clothes/no-nonsense underwear/undressing on stage/ nudity

Decor -chairs/ liberal use of flour-sand-water

Method: Mix at will. Do NOT smile or show any any expression that denotes joy or pleasure

The XXI Contemporanean Dance Competition had all the right ingredients and they were all very well mixed. There are some fantastic dancers here in Spain doing very interesting things but they take themselves too seriously; even when the piece is in a humouristic vein. As it was a competition ,I couldn´t help giving marks. I gave them all, except one, from highly commended to honours. After all they were the 8 finalists in a very prestigious competition.

But, the Honours with Distinction went to Sharon Fridman with his piece "Carlos & Me". He didn`t need to use the recipe. There was pure emotion and joy in Carlos Fernandez and his dancing. The lighting was perfect, the costumes were perfect, the music was beautiful and they didn`t need anything else. I didn`t want it to end. He carried away quite a few of the varied and generous prizes. He got the Audience Award . He also shared the Jury`s 2nd prize with Angel Martinez and Vito Giotta with "IN2" and Janet Novas with "se va del aire " both excellent works. But the ways of the jury are mysterious and the only piece I didn`t like got the 1st prize. Either I am not an initiate in the contemporary dance scene or I simply didn`t get the message but the couple (Company Pisando Ovos) spent most of what seemed an eternity, jumping very high up and down on the spot - what stamina and resistance............
