Siendo la primera salida de la temporada, apetecía ejercer de madre, e ir con hijos. Siempre hay espectáculos de danza para chicas, pero para ellos la oferta es menos atractiva. Prefieren el fútbol y la playstation, claro, pero creo que mi hijo incluso elegiría el insti antes que una sesión de ballet clásico. Así que hice una propuesta tentadora: se trata de un show con música de QUEEN, MICHAEL JACKSON, COLDPLAY... y también bailan algunos chicos.
Pues sí, es High School Musical. Menos el número de las muñecas hinchables, que fue muy divertido, y algún que otro guiño, la mayoría de las coreografías fueron bastante aburridas. Eché en falta más diálogo y complicidad entre los bailarines. Faltaba también el humor, los gags. ¡Es un espectáculo para jóvenes! La única bailarina, técnicamente muy competente y además con mucha energía, recordaba más bien a la gimnasia rítmica o al patinaje. Y el vestuario era digno de la gran final de un concurso de baile de salón, categoría "latinos".
¡Pero ah, los chicos! ¡Qué técnica! Estuvieron fantásticos. Son bailarines de ballet clásico, pero dominan todos los estilos. Y yo, que procedo del clásico, disfrutaba viendo sus saltos, piruetas, extensiones de pies, las líneas y la prestancia que da el ballet.
Los últimos números, y en particular el bis, ya se acercaban peligrosamente a un espectáculo de "boys". Fue deprimente darme cuenta de que ya tengo edad para disfrutar de estos shows "ladies only" --¡Qué chicos más monos!--
We felt like The First Outing of the Season being a mothers and children affair.There is always something that girls would like but not much for boys who prefer football and playstations. I think if I gave my teenage son the choice between going to school or going to see ballet, he would
actually choose school. So I tempted him with a show with music by QUEEN, MICHAEL JACKSON, COLDPLAY...and some boys dance.....Well yes, it`s High School Musical. Apart from a few funny moments and the rubber doll dance , most of the choreographies were quite boring. I would have liked to have seen more complicity between the dancers, more gags-this is a show for kids. The only female dancer, gymnastic trained or skater, while technically good ,was too flashy, and her outfits were worthy of the Ballroom Dancing Finals, category "latinos".
But the boys, what wonderful dancers! They are all classical ballet trained but could dance,and did,any style. And for me, coming from ballet, it was a pleasure to see those jumps, the turns, those lovely pointed feet, the lines and the general "poise" that classical dancers have.
The last few numbers and especially the encore would be perfect for a bachelorette party! And what was depressing was to realise that I´m old enough to go to a "Ladies Night" and enjoy seeing those cute "boys" and their ballet butts!
