Compania Nacional de Danza, Teatro de la Zarzuela

Nacho Duato, con la coreografía Arcángel, fue, como siempre, exquisito. Cuida cada detalle: vestuario, decorado, música (Corelli y Scarlatti). La estética impera, por encima de todo. Aparte de un cuarteto muy corto y de un atisbo de trío hubo una sucesión de parejas perfectas, una tras otra. El final, con el gran cortinaje y la "ascensión", fue sublime pero acabó por aburrir un poquito: ¡una media hora larga!

En cambio, Órbitas y Derivas, de Angels Magerit, fue al principio muy energética y dinámica, con una variedad de "portés" que contrastaron bien con la elegancia de Duato. Pero el trabajo fue inconexo, como un popurrí de varias piezas, sin más hilo conductor que los vídeos del telón de fondo: unos efectos visuales tan... eso, efectistas, que en algún momento, aparte de no poder ver a los bailarines, me sentí hipnotizada por la masa de colores casi tangibles. Se hizo un poco aburrido: ¡una media hora larga!

Flockwork, de Alexander Ekman, salvó la noche. Flock (rebaño, bandada) es un trabajo humorístico muy visual, con música maravillosa de Matmos y música tradicional hawaiana. ¡Qué cosas tan bonitas se pueden hacer con tres mesas largas y sus manteles! Maravillosa coreografía, interpretada por maravillosos bailarines, de la Compañía Nacional de Danza: ¡una media hora corta!

Nacho Duato with Arcangel was exquisite, as usual. Every detail: the costumes, stage-sets, music (Corelli and Scarlatti) was impeccable. Apart from a brief quartet and a glimpse of a trio, there was a succession of perfect couples, one after the other. The ending with the long curtain and the" ascension" was sublime but it got a bit tedious. A long half hour!

Orbitas y Derivas by Angels Magerit was, at least in the beginning, very energetic and dynamic and contrasted well with the elegance of the Duato piece. It had a great variety of lifts (and throws) but it had no cohesion and was more a potpourri of dances put together with the leitmotif being the projected videos. In one of the sequences the special effects were so special that I didn´t even watch the dancers (who were in the dark anyway), I was too fascinated by the swirling mass of colours that were almost tangible!. It got a bit tedious. A long half hour!

Alexander Ekman´s Flockwork made the night! (flock-collective noun for a group of animals). This quote describes it perfectly: "His work is known for its clever ideas, fast- paced choreography and abundance of humour." Wonderful things can be done with three long tables covered with tablecloths, danced to the wonderful music of Matmos (and traditional hawaiian ) by the wonderful dancers of the C.N.D. It was a short half hour!
